About AYUSH
The Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care. Earlier it was known as the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy (ISM&H) which was created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003, with focused attention for development of Education and Research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.
About YCB(Yoga Certification Board)
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, had desired to spread worldwide India’s traditional knowledge of Yoga, with credible systems in place to assure quality of Yoga practices across the world. The Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and
Homoeopathy), Government of India, in pursuance of the above and in the wake of declaration of International Yoga Day in 2015, a scheme for Certification of Yoga professionals and Accreditation of Yoga Institutions was launched on 22nd June 2015. The certification and accreditation program started under the management of Quality Council of India (QCI).
Yoga Certification Board, Ministry of AYUSH ,Govt of India was set up in March, 2018; started functioning from June, 2018 and revised the guidelines for implementation of Certification of Yoga Professionals and Accreditation of Yoga Institutions/ Centres. This is effective from 1st April, 2019.
Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH is the Chairperson of YCB. Joint secretary, Ministry of AYUSH is the Vice Chairperson of YCB. The YCB has representation from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Accreditation expert, Legal expert and Yoga experts. Secretariat of the YCB is headed by CEO who is the Director of MDNIY
About Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board.( ATAB)
Government of India through Ministry of has issued a notification in December 2019, wherein, introduced a scheme for Accreditation/
endorsement of Ayurveda Training Courses running in India and abroad and which do not fall under the purview of IMCC Act, 1970. Govt. of India has been notified as the Accreditation agency for Ayurveda Training courses ,which is run by a named as Ayurveda Training Accreditation Board (ATAB)under The Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV) for careful assessment of these courses and the training providers which gives credibility to these courses and promotes their
acceptance worldwide.

Rrashtriya Ayurveda Vidya peeth
( RAV) is an Autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush., Govt. of India.RAV Quality Enhancement Initiative for Ayurveda Training Courses” is basically divided into four stages.
* Listing of Training Courses.
* Self-Declaration of Conformity to Basic Accreditation Standard
*Assessment Process to Basic Accreditation Standard of Ayurveda Courses/Training Providers
* Assessment Process to higher level– (To be developed- work in progress)
Self-Declaration of Conformity to Basic Accreditation Standard- It is an opportunity to the training providers to assess themselves against the prescribed Basic Accreditation standard and declare conformity based on self-assessment without any external intervention by ATAB
under RAV or any 3rdparty.
